Web 2.0 is interesting in the fact that a lot of it seemed to be created for mainly scientific purposes. Most of the software has been around and being used in scientific circles since the mid-nineties, but it didn't become well known until some body took it and started using it for more everyday reasons. Wikipedia, eBay, Google, and Myspace all brought the concept of Web 2.0 to the masses.
I think its funny that we take things that can easily be considered important tools that can help revolutionize the world, and we use them to help keep up with who has gotten fat since high school.

More improtantly, we constantly find ways to exploit inovations for financial gain. It slows the progress. Web 2.0 would be so much more important if corporations weren't constantly trying to find ways to make money off of it.
